141 Water Pumps in Jakarta Damaged

Jakarta Public Works Department recorded that as many as 141 water pumps are damaged because household wastes got snagged between the pumps. Those pumps consist of stationer pumps, mobile pumps, and underpass pumps.

“All this time we’ve tried hard to keep and maintain hundreds of water pumps in the city from waste, like by cleaning up the waste and then repairing the pumps, so the existing pumps would operate optimally. However, the waste in Jakarta is still difficult to be controlled,” stated Head of Facilities and Infrastructures Maintenance Section for Jakarta Public Works Department, Warsito, Monday (11/24).
In West Jakarta, Warsito continued, there are 149 water pumps consist of 100 stationer pumps, 45 mobile pumps, and 4 underpass pumps. From that amount, 45 pumps are damaged while the remaining 104 pumps are in good condition.
“Those pumps are spread in 32 pump houses located in eight sub-districts,” he told.
In Central Jakarta, there are 120 water pumps consist of 78 stationer pumps, 24 mobile pumps, and 18 underpass pumps. 100 pumps are in good condition while 20 others are damaged.
“They were installed in 23 pump houses,” he added.
In South Jakarta, there are 113 water pumps consist of 66 stationer pumps, 27 mobile pumps, and 20 underpass pumps. From that amount, 41 pumps are damaged but 77 others are in good condition.
“In East Jakarta, there are 56 water pumps consist of 28 stationer pumps, 18 mobile pumps, and 10 underpass pumps. As many as 49 pumps are in good condition, but 7 pumps are damaged,” he said.
And in North Jakarta, there are 117 water pumps consist of 100 stationer pumps and 17 mobile pumps. From that amount, 28 pumps are damaged but 89 others are in good condition.
“There is no underpass pump in North Jakarta,” disclosed Warsito.
